Hull City have been dealt a major blow with the news that Sone Aluko has suffered a torn Achilles.

Aluko could be out for between eight and ten weeks and will not be seen again until February having also been missing with an Achilles injury for the final five months of last season.

The Nigerian was initially named in the starting eleven to face Sunderland last Saturday but aggravated what Bruce thought to be a thigh injury in the warm-up, causing Aluko to miss out. Despite early promise, scans revealed the severity of the injury today and will now be without a key attacking player.

Aluko`s best moment in his Premier League campaign came against Newcastle United when he volleyed in the winner during City`s 3-2 success.

Of worry for Aluko and City will also be the forward`s contract situation. Weeks of negotiation have yet to see Aluko sign a new contract with the forward rejecting City`s latest offer. With Aluko seeing his deal expire in the summer, the forward will need to return to fitness and form to earn a new deal with the club.
