Hull city’s Nick Barmby is expected to return to first-team action when the Tigers face Ipswich Town in tonight’s Championship encounter.

The City star has been missing since suffering an injury against Queens Park Rangers in January. After six weeks spent on the sidelines, Nick Barmby is expected to return to the squad tonight.

Phil Brown is unlikely to field the former England international from the start but Barmby is expected to be named amongst the substitutes when Brown officially names his side.

The City striker was enjoying a run in the side during the Christmas period, as Phil Brown utilised the city player for better than Phil Parkinson or Peter Taylor had. Barmby’s goals were vital in manoeuvring city up the league with the most noticeable being his double to beat local rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Andy Dawson is also set to return to first-team action in place of Danny Coles as Damien Delaney refers back to his more accustomed centre-back position.

Good injury news for the team. If we can keep him fit and injury free until the end of the season, we may have just enough to survive this year!
