A resolute Brentford side provided a stern test for Hull City in the first half but City gradually wore then down and in the end ran out comfortable winners 2-0.

In the first half Alan McGregor proved himself back to his best with 2 very good saves. City made an early change when Alex Bruce had to go off and Harry Maguire got some welcome game time. With both Davies and Bruce sidelined it seems he may finally get his chance. Jake Livermore has come back a different player and provide the dynamism in midfield that City have been lacking.

Odubajo, on his return to Griffin Park showed what a good professional he is, tackling ferociously and not being intimidated by a hostile crowd.

City went in at half time 0-0 but the game came to life when Diame and Huddlestone came on. First a surging run by Robertson provided the opening goal and then following good work by Diame Clucas scored his second goal of the season. Brentford must have wondered what was going on when City’s subs of such quality came on.

A thoroughly professional performance, which sees us top of the league on goal difference.
