City in Striker Bid

The Tigers boss confirmed today that a bid has been put on the table for a striker, though as of yet no names have been mentioned.

The rumour mill is already banding some names about with Scunthorpes Billy Sharpe, Coventry’s Dale Adebola and Middlesboroughs Malcolm Christie amongst the players mentioned.

City have struggled in front of the net this season with a return of just 3 goals from 5 league games, all of them scored by Jon Parkin. With Darryl Duffy and Ben Burgess looking woefully short of confidence and Stephen McPhee still a few weeks away from fitness, manager Phil Parkinson has moved quickly to bring someone new in.

Saturdays game againsy Coventry highlighted the need for a front man with City failing to put away any chances they created.

Speaking to Sky sports today the Tigers boss commented.

‘We have a bid on the table for a striker,’ ‘We are always looking to improve the squad and it was clear to anybody watching that we lacked a bit of craft and quality in and around the box.’

If City do bring in a new frontman then it would cast a doubt on the future of some of the current strikers, most notably Ben Burgess, it is believed that if a deal can be done for someone from the lower leagues like Scunthorpes Billy Sharpe then Burgess could well be used as a negotiating tool.
