City trio called up to Republic of Ireland squad

Hull City trio David Meyler, Paul McShane and Robbie Brady have been called up to the provisional Republic of Ireland squad for their end of season friendlies.

All three could be involved as the Republic of Ireland play four end of season fixtures including against England at Wembley and Spain in New York.

The announcement is as interesting for the omission of Stephen Quinn who, despite winning promotion and impressing in the City midfield following his transfer from Sheffield United, could not force himself into contention for Geovanni Trapattoni`s squad.

City have built a strong Irish contingent with Paul McShane (29 caps,) David Meyler (3 caps) and Robbie Brady (5 caps) all having represented their national side in recent times.

Stephen Quinn has nine caps for the Republic of Ireland U21 squad but has never featured for the first-team.

We’d be interested to know what you think on Quinn’s omission – let us know in the comments box below and vote in our front-page poll.
