Hull City juniors took the first steps to a league and cup double last night, winning the Puma Youth Alliance Cup Final at Colchester.
The final, played at Colchester United`s Layer Road groud saw Billy Russell`s City team came away 3-0 victors with goals from Liam Cooper, Bill Law and Jamie Devitt. The only downside to a fantastic night for the City youngsters was the sending off of Liam Cooper for deliberate handball. Colchester missed the resulting penalty to add to their misery.
The Tigers led 2-0 at half-time before adding a third during the second half and now only a heavy defeat to Darlington in the league will prevent Russell`s side marking an excellent season with a league and cup double.
With the youth side performing well this season, it may only be a short-time before we see some breaking into the first-team squad. Last night`s cup winning team is shown below:
