Michael Dawson has called on the Hull City players to produce a big response when we face Birmingham City at the KCOM Stadium this weekend.

Without a win in five and following defeat to Preston North End in midweek, Dawson told the Official Site as he met with the media for a pre game press conference this week that Hull had to step up and change our form, especially on home soil.

‘Before the last international break, we had a big win at the KCOM against Bolton and it would be lovely to have another one against Birmingham on Saturday. Truth be told though, it doesn`t matter how we get the win, we just need to get the three points. Winning is the most important thing in football.’

Dawson went on to say that he didn’t feel we were a million miles away from getting a positive result, but we had to cut our the errors we were making a key points in games.

‘Of course, we all want to play well week in, week out but we know winning football matches breeds confidence and makes you play well. We have to get that installed in us and get back to having that winning mentality. We`re not a million miles away, but patience is key. We`ve got a lot of young lads who are certainly finding out the hard way what the Championship is all about. It just shows that you have to be right at the top of your game week in, week out to perform because there are no easy games at this level.’

He ended by saying.

‘This is a team that came down from the Premier League and more is expected of us. But there has been a lot of change and it`s clear that there is still an awful lot of work to be done. We were disappointed to come away with nothing to show for our efforts against Preston and now is the time to roll our sleeves up, dig in and produce a big response.’
