Manager Mike Phelan has now appointed Neil McDonald as his assistant manager until the end of the season.

The former West Ham coach also has further experience as a coach from spells with Bolton Wanderers, Blackburn Rovers, as well as managerial experience with Carlisle United and most recently Blackpool.

Speaking to the Official Site as he was appointed, Phelan explained.

‘I`m pleased to welcome Neil to the Club and look forward to working with him. It was important that we added to the backroom staff here and Neil brings a wealth of football experience which will be of huge importance as the season progresses.’

McDonald is in the dug out for tonight’s League Cup clash at Ashton Gate against Bristol City.
