Hull Hopeful Of Succesive Victories

Hull City will be aiming to extend the gap between themselves and the bottom three when they travel to Coventry City tomorrow. With that in mind, Vital Hull asked you what you thought tomorrow’s result would be.

Excited by the prospect of another performance similar to what we witnessed during the victory over Birmingham, fifty-six percent of you voted saying the Tigers would win the game. A win for Coventry city received only nineteen percent of the votes.

Unfortunately, City fans, who are set to travel in force with twenty coaches leaving the KC at 10 a.m tomorrow, wont know which side of the team will turn up. Will it be the team that capitulated so badly at Barnsley or the team that produced a heroic display against league leaders Birmingham City? I hope that for the travelling support and those of us sat at home waiting for updates on the score; it will be the latter of those two.

Last season, Peter Taylor`s men were the first team to take all three points from the Ricoh Arena. Coventry had started well in their new stadium but two goals from midfielder john Welsh, his only two goals for the club to date, were enough to earn all three points. This was even achieved with right-back Mark Lynch being sent-off during the second half of the game with the Tigers leading by a solitary goal.

Phil Brown has been quick to note the recent appointment of Iain Dowie as the clubs new manager will have made the Tigers task much more difficult. With the Coventry players aiming to impress their new manager, Dowie has enjoyed a win and a draw since taking charge of the club.

Dowie was a reported target for the Tigers after the sacking of Phil Parkinson but despite it appearing that Dowie was set to be named the new manager of Hull city following his dismissal from Charlton Athletic, the now Coventry man pulled out of the running.

Twenty-four percent of voters believe the game will end in a score draw when the teams meet tomorrow. Whatever happens, a defeat is out of the question as the Tigers must take at least a point in order to attempt Championship survival. With Tuesday night being host to City’s game in hand over their relegation rivals, a win tomorrow will go part of the way to easing fears of a return to League 1.
