With the pressure mounting on Phil Parkinson, tomorrow’s game is a must win. Following their demolition on Tuesday night, Parkinson must ensure that his side bounce back in order to try and avoid relegation. A defeat may signal the end of Phil Parkinson – the fans will be all but against him, but what will Adam Pearson do?
Parkinson may change his team following their dismal mid-week display.
Ian Ashbee may return after missing the Colchester fixture. Stephen McPhee is still pursuing a start as he attempts to recover from his long-term injury.
Michael Turner’s place in the defence continues to be questioned, with Damien Delaney a suitable replacement should Parkinson shuffle his pack.
With no-one from the team making much of an impact, it’s the bench that might get the biggest cheer of the day. many fans will be wanting to see striker Stephen McPhee make his long awaited return from injury, which might happen during tomorrow’s game.
Southampton fly to Hull tomorrow before training at the University this evening.
Inigo Idiakez was a doubt entering the Birmingham fixture and may be forced to miss out this fixture. Other than that, Southampton have a strong team to choose from.
A very similar player to Chris Iwelumo, and one that will cause the City defence problems. His direct running and physical problems will give the City team problems all day long.

These two teams met little over a month ago when City earned a credible nil-nil draw away from home. With the pressure being on Phil Parkinson to win this game, nothing less will be acceptable. However, Southampton are in terrific form and this match will certainly be a testing one. Unfortunately, I think City can only be good enough to draw.
