Hull’s Championship Relegation Confirmed

Hull’s return to the Premier League has be limited to the one season as a heavy 4-0 defeat at Crystal Palace this afternoon confirmed an instant return to the Championship.

The defeat at Sunderland a week felt like it was the terminal one as it left Hull with a mountain to climb. With the Black Cats failing to do us a favour against the Swans at the Stadium of Light on Saturday it meant City HAD to avoid a loss at Selhurst Park against Crystal Palace.

It wasn’t to be… Wilfried Zaha put Crystal Palace ahead after only three minutes before Christian Benteke made it two before half time to leave Hull with it all to do. Despite plenty of possession City couldn’t manage a breakthrough and Luka Milivojevic’s late penalty was added to by Patrick van Aanholt, wrapping things up for Palace, securing them a place in the Premier League whilst sending us down with a game remaining.

The future of Marco Silva was in doubt in any case but it would now be expected the Hull boss, who couldn’t have done much more to keep City in the topflight, will now leave the KCOM Stadium – swiftly followed by a number of players.

Unlucky Hull. You played well enough at times to be firmly mid table. Just hope you can keep your players and manager. some money and tweaking and you could return to the Prem.
