Head coach Leonid Slutsky has said that our recent injuries are disappointing as Hull City head into the game against Queens Park Rangers.
Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media earlier today to preview the game, Slutsky admitted that losing Abel Hernandez for six months was hugely disappointing given how he performed against Burton Albion.
Hernandez has been hit by a ruptured Achilles.
‘Of course it is very difficult when you lose one of the best players on your team for six months and it’s very disappointing. However, life continues and we have to prepare for our next match with the players that are available to play. I went to Abel’s house yesterday to speak with him and he needs special attention now. It’s the type of injury that needs about six months and I think he will be ready around February.’
Hull have also lost Markus Henriksen for up to six weeks after he picked up a foot injury in the game against Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek, but Slutsky is hopeful he can return after the international break.
‘Markus will lose four-to-six weeks. It was a very strong kick to the bone. We looked at operation or no operation and some doctors have different opinions to others. He will now stop for three weeks and he will hopefully be ready after the international break.’
Slutsky can welcome back Kevin Stewart to contention though as he’s overcome the ankle injury he picked up.
David Marshall, Evandro, Will Keane, Ryan Mason and Moses Odubajo remain out.
‘We have principles with the way we play and this is more important than formation. Changing players automatically means changing formation because we don’t have two of the same type. When you play with Abel Hernandez or another type of forward, you automatically change and have to adapt your principles to your players. Each player that plays on Saturday will understand our principles and the way we will play against QPR.’
