Following today’s clash between Hull City and Nottingham Forest, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Hull City hosted Nottingham Forest at the KCOM Stadium on Saturday January 27 for the FA Cup fourth round tie.

The hosts took the lead through Jarrod Bowen in the 18th minute of the game and Nouha Dicko doubled their advantage five minutes before the half time break. Forest did get a late consolation through Apostolos Vellios but it wasn’t enough to force a replay.

Marshall, Aina, Mazuch, Hector, Clark, Stewart, Henriksen, Bowen, Irvine (Batty 87), Diomande (Grosicki 71), Dicko (Keane 62).

McGregor, Dawson, Campbell, Tomori.

Nottm Forest:

Smith, Lichaj, Worrall, Mancienne, Fox, Carayol (Clough 45), Bouchalakis (Vaughan 45), Cash, Osborn, Dowell, Brereton (Vellios 80).

Mills, McKay, Darikwa, Henderson.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Stuart Attwell blew the final whistle, Hull manager Nigel Adkins explained.

‘I’m pleased we won. it was well deserved. We had a lot of opportunities again and I’m pleased about that. I’m happy we took two goals. For me it was a good performance from the players but as a collective team there was a lot of spirit about everybody. We created a lot of opportunities to win the game and the supporters were right behind everybody as well.’

Forest manager Aitor Karanka in his comparative interview explained.

‘I think it was clear that we came here thinking it was going to be an easy game. We can’t forget that most of Hull’s players are Premier League players. Hull showed that they were much more mature. We need to improve and we need to grow, especially in personality. We need to learn, we need to keep going. Stupid mistakes cost us the game. When you are not experienced enough, you think that because you have won one important game, the following game is going to be easy. I told them before the game but you can learn when you are more mature.’
