Shaun Maloney’s future has been put in doubt after the former Celtic and Aston Villa forwards proposed move to Aberdeen was put on hold.

Hull offered Maloney a new one year deal but the chance to sign for his hometown club had seen the Scotland international turn this down in favour of a move to Aberdeen.

According to BBC Scotland, this one year deal is ‘on hold and in doubt’ after an injury concern was raised by Maloney himself.

Maloney didn’t have a full medical with the Scottish Premiership club and has ‘instead opted to investigate the seriousness of the issues before deciding on his future,’ reports the BBC.

The nature of the injury wasn’t revealed.

Meanwhile, young striker Jonny Edwards has signed a new one year deal at the KCOM Stadium, which also comes with the option of a further 12 months.

Edwards will spend his immediate future at Accrington Stanley though after it was also revealed a season-long loan was agreed with the League Two side – City have the option to recall the forward in January.

This loan will see Edwards, who joined Hull last summer following a successful trial, return to Accrington after a previous spell at Stanley last season when the 20 year old scored once in 11 appearances.
