New arrival Billy Paynter said once he knew Hull City wanted him that there was only one place that he wanted to go.

The 21 year old said he had other options but ‘As soon as Hull City came in and I got wind of it, in my mind there was only one place that I wanted to come. I’m finally here, I’m happy and I’m here to play football.’

He also explains his reasons for wanting the move to the KC Stadium: ‘The manager is one reason. I’ve spoken to him and liked what he had to say about the club. I’ve met the Chairman as well and he’s a good, honest bloke and those are the kind of things that made the decision for me.’

Paynter is currently on loan from Port Vale but the deal is with a mind to a permanent move once the January transfer window opens. The fee is thought to be in the region of £125 000

Port Vale Chairman Bill Bratt said: ‘Sam (Collins) and Billy are ambitious lads and now have a great chance to prove themselves at a higher level. Good luck to them, they have been great servants to Port Vale and will now earn a lot more money at Hull.’
