If Tom Huddlestone did leave Hull, be it for Newcastle or West Brom, the ex-Tottenham and England midfielder would link up with a former City teammate at a Premier League club.

Newcastle have joined West Brom in holding an interest in Huddlestone, reports the Sun.

As a double blow for Leonid Slutsky, who would hope to retain the experience of Huddlestone, 30, to build a midfield around, if not team, that could push for Championship promotion, Hull could lose him for as little as £2m.

Huddlestone reportedly has a clause in his current contract that the KCOM Stadium allowing him to leave for just £2m. This will see Newcastle, where he could form a midfield pairing with Mo Diame, and West Brom, who signed England midfielder Jake Livermore from Hull in January, battling for his signature.

During his time at Hull the midfielder, who made 39 appearances last season, has played over 150 games for City since joining from Tottenham in 2013.

Meanwhile, Newcastle are also said to ‘lead the chase to sign’ Kamil Grosicki, according the Hull Daily Mail, which credited Polish website Przeglad Sportowy.

Rafa Benitez’s side could pay up to £9.65m for the Poland international – Crystal Palace, Watford and West Brom are also reportedly interested in the £7.5m January signing from Stade Rennais, who still has three years on his deal.
