City manager Nigel Pearson confirmed the signing of Adriano Basso after seeing his side defeat Liverpool 3-0 in this afternoon`s pre-season fixture.

Having recently confirmed the signing of Hungarian Peter Galusci on loan, The Tigers now have two keepers to contend for a starting place after signing the veteran Brazilian.

Basso has signed a one year contract at the KC, joining as a free agent having been released by Wolverhampton Wanderers. The contract offer contains an option for a second year.

Basso helped City to this afternoon`s 3-0 win over Liverpool, playing the second forty-five minutes and making a key save early on to deny debutant Stewart Downing.

Basso was beaten by what proved to be Hull City`s most famous goal as he failed to keep out Dean Windass` volley during the 2008 Championship Play-Off final at Wembley.
