Steve Bruce`s side may have dropped to fourth in the Championship, but know a win at Brighton in front of the Sky cameras will guarantee a rise to at least third, and possibly second depending on Leicester`s result earlier in the day.
City are unbeaten in seven on the road, most recently recording their first win of 2013 following a 1-0 win over Millwall. City`s scorer that day, David Meyler, does look to be fit to start after training in midweek despite picking up a knock. Abdoulaye Faye, who was forced off in the first-half, will miss the match and is sidelined for two to three weeks. Jack Hobbs or Alex Bruce look set to deputise in his place.
The latter may continue in a defensive midfield role, although should he move back into his more natural position, Corry Evans could come into midfield. City are also boosted by the arrival of Gedo and Fathi, who are both set to be named as substitutes.
Brighton will be without leading striker Ashley Barnes who serves the first of a three game suspension for his red card against Sheffield Wednesday. Craig McKail-Smith looks set to start and could be joined by Will Buckley who will face a late fitness test on a hamstring injury. Captain Gordon Greer remains sidelined.
In a reverse of the opening day fixture, City will be looking to achieve the double over Brighton. That day in August, Jay Simpson came off the bench to score late in a 1-0 win. The Tigers task will be difficult against the draw specialists of the division, coupled with the fact that City have only ever won once in Brighton in their history.
