Hull City reserves ended their season with a defeat to Hartlepool United

City featured a weakened side, with two changes being made from the team that drew 0-0 away at York City the week before.

Calum Russell came in for James Bennett whilst Joe Lamplough replaced Jamie Devitt. None of the first-team squad was involved, meaning the reserve side was made up of City’s youth players.

With the Tigers struggling to produce anything up-front during the first-half, it was no surprise as the teams went in tied goal-less at half-time.

Hartlepool took the lead in the fifty-seventh minute when Martin Young drove in a shot from a half cleared free-kick.

The defeat means the Tigers have now lost any hope of claiming the Pontins Holiday Division One East title.

Hull City: Curtis Aspden, Frank Belt, Joe Lamplough (James Bennett 87 mins), Russell Fry, Matthew Plummer, Brewster Frizzell, Tom Matthews, Ben Wilkinson, Nicky Featherstone (Bill Law 68 mins), Calum Russell (Ryan Kendall 87 mins), Will Atkinson.

Subs not used: Tom Woodhead, Jamie Devitt.

Hartlepool United: Jim Provett, Ali Gibb, John Brackstone, Craig Gott, Carl Jones, Philip Turnbull, Michael Maidens, Martin Young, Michael Rae, Michael Mackay (David Foley 84 mins), Matty Robson.

Subs not used: Matty Tymon, Jon Rowell, Callum Proudlock.

i know ,you would have thought they would have given a run out to the likes of bridges and coles? a title is a title after all no matter where it is !

don’t get it myself, there are enough who need a run out and any chance of real success this season should be fought for no matter what…typical I guess of this set up at present.

I agree better to have those in the 1st team squad playing some competitive football, gain a win, get a title surely would be positive news to feed throughout the club and give the feelgood factor.
