Hull City’s capitulation following poor performances against Bolton and Reading was completed today when they were humiliated by lowly Rotherham.

Maloney replaced Clucas in an otherwise unchanged side but City were always second best in this contest. Odubajo who has been one of City’s most consistent players had a nightmare first half, losing possession in the penalty area and then conceding a penalty, which was expertly despatched by Frecklington.

Chubs Akpom continues to frustrate. He is selfish which is a good trait most of the time but sometimes he needs to be a team player. In one instance he tried to score when a pass to Hernandez would have made it 1-1. He also hit the post in both halves.

HT Rotherham 1-0 Hull City.

City improved a little after half time but a lack of finishing power cost them another goal when the other full back, Robertson dithered over the ball and Newell stole in to score. City had their chances. Akpom hit the post and inexplicably stopped when clean through when all he had to do was round the keeper to score. He thought he was offside but the linesman kept his flag down! Maguire put a free header wide when it seemed easier to score. City brought on Diame, Huddlestone and Diomande but to no avail and they slumped to an embarrassing defeat, which was made worse by victories to Middlesbrough, Derby and Burnley.

The players must believe their own hype and with the majority full internationals they should be ashamed of a totally lacklustre performance.

Akpom would have been flagged offside if he had gone for the ball that time but should have taken at least 3 of his 5 good chances and as you say he should have put Hernandez in. If he was 10% as good as he thinks he is he would be a helluva player. Elmo another stinker needs time on the bench.
