Manager Steve Bruce has said he was pleased with Hull’s second half showing in the game against York City last night.

Hull came out as two nil winners on Wednesday evening thanks to goals from Sone Aluko and Yannick Sagbo in the second period, and speaking to the Official Site following the match the gaffer explained that he was pleased with the work out we received and the improvement we made after the break.

‘It was another physical contest against a strong York side, and as I’ve said before, this is what pre season is all about – getting minutes under the players’ belt. We changed things around at half time with a number of substitutions and that told in the second half. I thought Tom Ince looked sharp when he came on, as were the two lads up front.’

Bruce goes on to say that as a player he absolutely hated pre season and daftly he thinks he probably hates it more now because the games aren’t the same, and everybody just wants to get going now, but obviously this is a necessary period of the process so we can do our best when the season begins properly.

Barnsley to go this weekend and then our maiden European trip to either FK Volvodina or FC AS Trecin depending on who wins their second leg match, and hopefully the games and training so far will see us really hit the ground running and progress as far as we can through the Europa League at the first time of asking.

‘Next week will be a totally different kettle of fish in Europe and it will be difficult because they have played half a season. I’ve got no doubts, it will be difficult for us but we’ll be ready.’
