Hull City head coach Leonid Slutsky has said he’s relishing the test that Ipswich Town will provide this weekend because he knows only winning games will lift the atmosphere in and around the club.

Having lost three games on the trot ahead of the November international break, we host Ipswich on Saturday at the KCOM Stadium and Slutsky is determined to oversee an improvement in performances and results as we head into the festive period to pick everyone up.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media to look ahead to the coming game, he explained.

‘We had three defeats in a row and if we want to change our situation in the table, change our mood and change our confidence we must win matches. There are no more international breaks now until March and this is good for us because we have a lot of international players. It is a small plus for us.’

The Russian gaffer went on to say.

‘We have a lot of matches between now and then and we have to change our situation maximum quickly. We have worked very hard over the last week-and-a-half with the players that we have had available, but of course it has been a time when some players have been away and it was a time that was good for some players to recover. This is a situation that we are used to and we manage each player to understand their condition.’

Slutsky went on to say that as well as normal training over the break, there had been a behind closed doors friendly with Bradford City to get minutes under the belt of some players and he’s looking for that to benefit us too down the line.

‘We found a sparring partner for the international break but really this was not about a tactical exercise because maybe only four or five players played for us who will play on Saturday. It was a good exercise for everybody though, and especially for Evandro because it was his first game for three months. I think he is ready to play maybe for 30 or 35 minutes.’

In terms of team news, Michael Hector, Ondrej Mazuch and Evandro all come back into contention.
