Tigers Fans Expect Victory

The latest Hull City fans poll suggests that the supporters expect Hull City to walk away from St Marys with all three points when The Tigers take on Southampton this afternoon.

54% of those who replied said that City would win, with 37% predicting a Southampton win and just 9% saying a score draw.

Recent meetings between the two sides would suggest that the minority may well be correct with four of the last five encounters ending with the points shared. The last time the 2 sides met was back in December 2006 when The Saints came away from the K.C Stadium with the spoils after beating City 4-2, a game which also saw the demise of Phil Parkinson as the Tigers boss.

You have to go back to August 1976 to find the last time Hull beat Southampton, when they triumphed 4-0 at Boothferry Park. Since then the two sides have played each other nine times with City’s record reading Drawn 5 Lost 4.

On current form both sides are evenly matched with The Saints having a reord of 2 wins, 2 draws and 3 defeats from their last 7 games, The Tigers stats for the same period reads 3 wins, 2 draws and 2 defeats.

So it would appear that the 9% have done their homework on this one and a draw would not buck a trend.
