Tigers sign Marney from Spurs

Hull City have made their second signing in the space of a few hours with the capture of 22yr old Spurs midfielder Dean Marney.

This news out of the blue will come as a surprise to the majority of City fans as there had been no clues or rumours about this signing.

Marney has Premiership experience having made his top flight debut for Spurs against Birmingham in 2003 and he went on to make another eleven appearances for the London Club, most notably when he scored 2 goals in their 5-2 victory over Everton in January 2005.

During his Tottenham career he had loan spells at Gillingham, Swindon & QPR and spent the early part of last season on loan at Championship side Norwich City, before a ruptured Achilles Tendon injury forced him to return to White Hart Lane.

He was also capped at England u21 level under ex Tigers boss Peter Taylor.

A cultured midfielder with an eye for goal he can also operate as a wing back, so like Ricketts will give us options across the middle and the backline.

It is understood that Marney has signed a three year contract at the K.C, but as of yet there has been no mention of any fee involved.
