Under The Spotlight

Danny Webber has made 22 starts for The Blades this season, and has made 11 appearances as a sub, scoring 9 goals along the way. Hence why, this week, Danny Webber is the one to watch for Sheffield United.

The Manchester born striker started his career at Old Trafford, making his debut as a substitute in the league cup during the 2000-2001 season. Unfortunately, there were very few opportunities for the 24 year old to impress, and he didn?t make another appearance for Manchester United until the following season, again in the league cup. However, in this match he was lucky enough to start for The Red Devils.

The same season saw him loaned out to lower league clubs in order to gain some experience. The first of these was Championship outfit Watford, Webber was given more of a chance to shine at Vicarage Road, and scored 2 goals in 5 appearances for The Hornets. His second loan spell was at Port Vale, and despite not scoring for The Valiants, the loan move gave him the opportunity to get 4 more league games under his belt.

The 2002-2003 season saw him again make an appearance for The Red Devils, but this time in The Champions League, when he came on as a substitute. This appearance would be his last for Manchester United, as the same season he signed for Watford, and returned to Vicarage Road. The striker stayed with The Hornets for 2 seasons, making 63 appearances, and scoring 17 goals, before signing for Sheffield United for £500,000 in 2004.

After scoring a late equaliser against Stoke last weekend, Webber?s confidence will be on the up, so hopefully Peter Taylor will put out a strong defence to deal with the pacey striker.

My Prediction: 2-1 to The Tigers!
