Manchester City will not only look to retain the lead at the top of the Premier League at the end of the weekend, they’ll also do this into the international break should they overcome (as most would expect) they overcome Middlesbrough at the Riverside.
A slip up and Arsenal, when they play on Sunday, will have the chance to have the lead outright at the top. It’ll be a tough match against Tottenham though for the Gunners, with both enjoying impressive unbeaten Premier League runs.
Liverpool also go into the weekend as part of the three-way lead at the top, which they too will share (at worst) if they’re able to get another win at Anfield on Sunday. Watford should have plenty of confidence going into this match though.
If Sunderland’s struggles continue into the break it’ll be a LONG break for them with a match a Bournemouth hardly the easiest of matches for the Black Cats to have…. But it could have been worse.
Stoke’s improvement will see Mark Hughes aim for another Potters win, which if secured at West Ham (with no crowd trouble the main thing for the Hammers at the London Stadium) could see a continued climb into the top half of the table.
Two sides battling for European football are Chelsea and Everton, both looking to return to this next season too after missing out this season. Going into the late kick-off on Saturday host Chelsea also have title ambitions with the very much in the mix, the Toffees need the points really to close the gap.
Sunday will see a fairly packed schedule, including those already mentioned Hull’s struggles will be something they’ll aim to arrest when Southampton visit the KCOM Stadium.
Another side in the bottom three are Swansea, it’ll be hoped by Bob Bradley he can collect his first win since his appointment when Manchester United visit with the weekend rounded off when Champions Leicester welcome West Brom to the King Power Stadium.
We can say it goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result.
But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough!
