Bournemouth could move an even greater step towards Premier League safety with a first win in five, which would also push second-bottom Middlesbrough closer towards an instant return to the Championship – Boro, without a win in any of their previous 10, are already six points from safety.
A Hull win, coupled with a Swansea defeat, could see them open up a five point gap on the Swans? As long as City avoid defeat in the visit of Watford, 10th, they should remain at least goal difference outside of the drop zone.
Five defeats in a six game winless run has seen Swansea slip into the bottom-three. If the Swans fail to see off the challenge of Stoke at the Liberty Stadium they’ll remain two points from safety, at least, with four to play. The Potters could move back into the top-10 with a win.
West Ham, 13th, should have done enough in recent weeks to stave off the threat of being sucked into the relegation zone? An Everton win at the London Stadium and that view could change, it would also take the Toffees up to fifth, well, until Manchester United play on Sunday at least.
Burnley could effectively secure Premier League survival, whilst seriously damage Manchester United’s top-four hopes, if the Clarets’ home form can take them to another victory. United, buoyed by the win over leaders Chelsea last weekend, could close to within a point of Manchester City, fourth, ahead of the impending Manchester derby.
Should Liverpool extend their unbeaten run to seven, with a third straight win, it would strengthen the already strong grip on a third-placed finish. Crystal Palace would move a step closer to Premier League safety if they can add a recent win over Arsenal with the scalp of the Reds at Anfield to make it six wins in eight.
It goes without saying the expectation; most definitely the hope at least, will be for a positive result. But will this happen? We’ll find out soon enough.
