Vital Report – Wolves 1-1 Hull

Hull’s Championship season continued with a point at Molineux in a draw against Wolves on Sunday.

This is a point that possibly, maybe probably, would have been more but for a howler from McGregor when the Hull ‘keeper dropped a clanger to gift Henry an equaliser to Wolves to cancel out the earlier opener for the Tigers from Jelavic in this one-one draw.

Wolves almost got off to a fine start when terrible Hull defending allowed the usually so lethal Afobe in as he looked to make the most of this mistake but Davies got back to cover and cleared off the line.

At the other end Davies was involved in the opening goal for Hull. His blatant, and needless push in his back from Wolves defender Hause, gave the Tigers a penalty. Jelavic (22), who remains with the club for now, scored his first goal since February as he blasted this down the middle.

Dicko, as he looked to head a deep cross back across goal to Edwards, who couldn’t get a touch, again saw Davies covering as he scrambled the ball away to prevent a Wolves equaliser in the first half.

However that equaliser came in the second half, just before the hour, when McGregor inexplicably dropped a simple cross at the feet of Henry (58) who happily accepted this gift to make it one-one.

More Dicko and Afobe combing could have seen the home side come from behind to lead but Dicko couldn’t get a head to the ball across goal.

A rare away win, Hull have only managed one away from the KC Stadium in 2015, couldn’t be found but the Tigers went close with fine skills from Jelavic seeing the Croatia get into the box and pull the ball back to Arsenal loanee Akpom, who was denied his third goal in as many games when he struck the post.
