The European dream, and adventure, for Hull is over after the aggregate loss last night.

Hull went into the Europa League play-off tie with Lokeren one-nil down from the first leg, a failure to score away from home ultimately proved costly as a 2-1 win at the KC Stadium wasn’t enough.

Lokeren’s away goal saw them through after a two-two aggregate scoreline.

Robbie Brady (6) got us off to a dream start as his early goal, finishing from a Mayor Figueroa cross, levelled things up.

Hull couldn’t add to the lead, and they had a chance or two but Lokeren also threatened but a one-nil half time lead was a good starting point.

Jordan Remacle (49), from a corner after Allan McGregor had made a good save to keep out a freekick prior, struck shortly after the interval to level it up at one-one on the night and put the visitors ahead two-one overall.

Brady (55) converted from the penalty spot, following a handball, to restore the lead and level it up at two-all on aggregate but the chances of overturning the aggregate deficit were dealt a blow with Yannick Sagbo’s sending off 20-minutes from time.

Sub Tom Huddlestone had a late effort blocked on the line as Hull tried, in vein, to get that third goal that would have seen them through with the European dream now over….
