Ipswich Chasing Marney Deal

reports in today’s newspapers has linked Championship rivals Ipswich Town with a move for City midfielder Dean Marney.

Marney, who joined from Spurs for a reported £1,000,000 deal last season failed to live up to expectations after suffering an indifferent first season.

The midfielder has two years remaining on his three year contract with the club and a bid of £250,000 is unlikely to meet Hull’s valuation of the player.

Although Marney has suffered with a lack of form this season, the midfielder is the only attacking option we have from the centre of the park meaning that unless two attacking midfielders are brought in, Dean Marney is going nowhere.

Marney scored two goals for the Tigers last season as he made 26 appearances for the Tigers during a disappointing season. However, many fans believe that if Marney is playing alongside better players, the young midfielder may flourish.

At 23, Marney has a long career ahead of him and to accept a £250,000 bid from a Championship rival for a talented player would show a lack of ambition. Without an increased bid, this Ipswich interest will surely be dismissed?
