Ipswich Chasing Marney Deal

reports in today’s newspapers has linked Championship rivals Ipswich Town with a move for City midfielder Dean Marney.

Marney, who joined from Spurs for a reported £1,000,000 deal last season failed to live up to expectations after suffering an indifferent first season.

The midfielder has two years remaining on his three year contract with the club and a bid of £250,000 is unlikely to meet Hull’s valuation of the player.

Although Marney has suffered with a lack of form this season, the midfielder is the only attacking option we have from the centre of the park meaning that unless two attacking midfielders are brought in, Dean Marney is going nowhere.

Marney scored two goals for the Tigers last season as he made 26 appearances for the Tigers during a disappointing season. However, many fans believe that if Marney is playing alongside better players, the young midfielder may flourish.

At 23, Marney has a long career ahead of him and to accept a £250,000 bid from a Championship rival for a talented player would show a lack of ambition. Without an increased bid, this Ipswich interest will surely be dismissed?

I don’t like the midfielder that much but at £250k, I’d certainly reject the bid. It’s not worth selling him in case he becomes good at Ipswich. Let’s give him another chance here first.

Unless yesterday was complete hype this must be just a load of bunkum! Marney has the talent, playing next to Ashbee is enough to put anyone off their game!!!

Think we should stick with him.See how he gets on in first half off the season.250k is not alot for some1 who could easy play for the next 10 years and be a preimership player again.

  • South Bank Tiger says:

Yes we should definitely stick with him. Next season should see the whole complexion of the team change and I’d want to give him the chance to flourish in any new setup. I certainly wouldn’t let him go to a rival for 250K.

As you say £250k is small beer for Championship teams!

  • Twti says:

Stick with him for another season, he shows signs of a good player at times.

  • Mikez says:

Give him another chance to show what he can do with a decent new player alongside?

  • Dorset tiger says:

Get rid, he runs around like a headless chicken with no end result.

Give Marney another go. He’ll come good with quality midfielders around him. Marney is a link-up player. How is he supposed to link-up with Ashbee; Ashbee could’nt pass water, nevermind mind a football.
