The last time City played on the 28th November was back in 1998, and it was a home game against Carlisle. City managed to take the points, thanks to an 89th minute winner from on-loan signing Craig Dudley. On loan from Notts County, Dudley made 4 starts and 3 sub appearances for City, scoring twice.

Another loan player who made an impact on this date was a later Scunthorpe Utd player and former Aston Villa trainee. 28th November 1992 saw City take on Blackpool at Boothferry Park and win 3-2 with Martin Carruthers, on loan from Villa, opening the scoring. Carruthers, who would later score goals for Stoke, Peterborough and Southend in addition to Scunthorpe, appeared 13 times in a City shirt, managing to score 6 times in total.

On this date in 1960, City were still embroiled in the longest Cup tie in their history. 2 days after drawing 0-0 against Darlington at Feethams in the second round, City took on the Quakers at Boothferry Park in what turned out to be a series of replays. This one, in front of a crowd of 18,000, ended 1-1 after extra time, with Chris Chilton scoring the City goal. More on the further replays as we get to them!
