On Sky

Traditionally Hull haven’t managed many favourable results against Arsenal, tonight is the night when we could do with another positive outcome to boost our Premier League survival hopes.

A run of good form recently has seen us improve these hopes and there wouldn’t be a better time than now to, like we did against Liverpool last time round, collect a rare win against Arsene Wenger’s side as our relegation rivals are also finding form, well most of them are anyway.

Hull Team News:

Nikica Jelavic (knee) has returned to training recently so could be available to make his return, which would be yet another welcome boost.

Also returning are David Meyler (suspension), having say out his ban, and Andy Robertson (ankle) who has been so impressive in his debut season for us, so impressive that some reports have claimed an Arsenal interest previously.

Mo Diame (knee) is doubtful once more though so we could miss his industry in midfield.

Player to watch: Dame N’Doye

Arsenal Team News:

Mathieu Debuchy (hamstring) is doubtful and Mikel Arteta (ankle) is closing in on a return but isn’t quite ready yet.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (groin) and Abou Diaby also miss out tonight but the expectancy is they’ll both have a chance to return before the season ends.

Match Facts & Stats

Since that first ever topflight meeting back in 2008 when we won we’ve not won since but did end the run of successive Premier League defeats, and the FA Cup Final defeat last May, against them with a two-two draw at the Emirates Stadium back in October.

In all of the previous 21-matches played against Arsenal, in all competitions, we’ve also only ever won three.

Back-to-back successes are rare for us in the Premier League, even rarer this season but a third win in a row tonight would go someway to safety and move us within sight of our record of straight wins at this level, which currently stands at four-matches.

Match Prediction:

Arsenal’s limited title ambitions ended when Chelsea won the title on Sunday but they’ll still feel they’ve got a great chance of finishing second and given the form they’ve found in recent months you can see why.

We’ve also found form at the right time so our confidence should be high and there wouldn’t be a better time than now to win a third successive Premier League game, but can we do this?

Next Fixture:

Next up, after this game, are Burnley at the KC Stadium in another vital relegation battle on Saturday.
