Taylor is becoming more and more desperate to dip into the transfer market after he saw his side suffer a 3-1 defeat to promotion chasing Sheffield United.

City took only four points from a possible twelve over Christmas, and have moved down the tabbe and are positioned only five points above the relegation zone.

Taylor has said that the points total City have isn’t good enough, and we now need new blood in order to move away from the drop zone.

We are waiting on news from Falkirk over our ‘fair’ bid for Daryl Duffy, but Taylor has hinted another player may also be on his way in.

Taylor said: ‘We are talking and we’ll hopefully have something in place, if not for the Aston Villa Cup tie this Saturday then for the Palace game.’

‘I might be looking at more than one player – but less than three. That’s all I’m saying.’

City had struggled to get results over Christmas, but the performances did show some encouragment.

Taylor added: ‘We’ve got four points but I was hoping for at least six.

‘Although our position isn’t fantastic, I still feel we’ll be all right. We’ve just played two of the best sides in the division in Leeds and Sheffield United and we haven’t looked out of place.

‘In the first half of both games, we’ve done very well. We’ve just got to keep going. We’ve got to work very hard as a team, on and off the ball, to keep grinding out results.

‘I don’t want the players to drop their heads and I don’t think they will. If we can tighten up in certain areas, we’ll be okay.’
