Hull City playmaker Nick Barmby faces missing a reunion with his previous club Middlesbrough after picking up an injury against Queens Park Rangers.

Barmby was substituted at half-time after picking up a slight injury during the first-half. Barmby received a knock on his ankle whilst challenging for the ball in the QPR area, but the striker continued playing until half-time.

During the interval, Phil Brown assessed the swelling on the ankle was to severe for the player to continue, meaning Nicky Forster was introduced into the action.

Fortunately for City, Barmby’s absence didn’t affect the team as two late goals from Stuart Elliott secured a dramatic injury time victory.

Nick Barmby is now set to miss the Tigers third round F.A Cup replay at Middlesbrough on Tuesday night. Barmby missed the corresponding fixture last week, and he now looks set to miss another game against his former employers.

Phil Brown may start Nicky Forster after performing well having replaced the injured player at half-time or Brown may choose Saturday’s hero Stuart Elliott.

Nick Barmby and Phil Brown will be hoping that the player can return for action when the Tigers travel to Peter Taylor’s Crystal Palace on Saturday in another crucial Championship encounter.

I would rather that he is fit and able to play against Palace at the weekend….I am sure that after his resurgence over the last few weeks under Phil Brown..that he will have one hell of a point to prove against Palace and inparticular Taylor……
