Wayne Brown is to make his competitive Hull City debut as Phil Brown’s side travels to Gresty Road to take on Crewe Alexandra in the League Cup first round.

The defender was signed from Championship rivals Colchester United in a deal that could be worth up to £450,000. However, during a pre-season match against Stockport County, the player was subbed early after picking up an injury.

Brown was made to miss the first game of the season but tonight’s game, which is expected to see Brown field several reserve players, is the perfect opportunity for the defender to gain match fitness before Saturday’s trip to the Ricoh Arena to face Coventry City.

Brown is expected to replace Danny Coles in the City defence. Fellow new signing Bryan Hughes may be missing out with a slight back strain whilst new signing Henrik Pedersen will not be fit for the next four weeks meaning he will take no part in the fixture.

A full preview of tonight’s game will be appearing shortly. Don’t forget, in the 100% football forum, the ‘guess the team’ and ‘guess the score’ competitions are running for tonight’s game as usual.
