Following on from last seasons success in Coca-Cola’s ‘Win a player for your club’ in which City landed a quater-of-a-million pound prize to go towards transfer fees, the Tigers have struck it lucky again. The latest campaign from the soft drinks giant entitled ‘find the next Rooney’ is giving away weekly prizes of £25,000 which is to be ploughed into youth development. This was won by fan Angie Morris who also receives £1,000 for herself.

City’s youth system has come on leaps and bounds in recent years with the likes of Paul Anderson, Nicky Featherstone and Clayton Donaldson all coming through the ranks to breakthrough into a high level of proffesional football. Others such as Curtis Aspden, Will Atkinson and Ben Wilkinson are gaining league experience a bit further down the ladder, but Billy Russell and Neil Mann amongst others are now seeing a good turnover in those progressing into the professional ranks. The youth team itself is very succesful, with many of them also playing in the reserves, at times alongside established stars such as Pedersen, Barmby and Okocha.

This latest windfall will no doubt be welcomed by all at the club and will help ensure, in the short team at least, that the youth and future of Hull City AFC continue to blossom. Congratulations on behalf of the site go to Angie Morris and the Tigers.
