New defender Paul McShane, who has joined on loan from Sunderland was part of the Republic of Ireland squad along with former Tiger Damien Delaney. The Republic of Ireland managed to take a promising win from Georgia, claiming the points with a 2-1 victory.

Paul McShane was an 80th minute substitute coming on to replace Espanyol defender Steve Finnan.

Boaz Myhill and Sam Ricketts were both part of the Wales squad but neither featured despite both playing a part in Wales` last friendly before yesterday`s game. Both players` will hope to be involved when Wales travel to Russia on Wednesday.

Peter Halmosi was also a substitute as Hungary managed to take a creditable point from a game with Denmark. The Hungarians have improved in recent games and hope to be the dark horses of Group 1.
