Hull City target Martyn Waghorn is thought to favour a move to the KC Stadium.

Nigel Pearson is looking to conclude a deal to bring Waghorn to the KC on a loan basis but faces competition from Bristol City and Southampton, who have both expressed an interest in the Leicester striker.

Championship rivals Leicester could favour a permanent move, with £3 million signing Waghorn having fallen down the pecking since the arrival of David Nugent. Should Waghorn be made available on a permanent basis, City may be unable to meet Leicester`s demands should they attempt to recoup a significant proportion of their outlay.

City`s edge over their rivals comes from Waghorn and Pearson`s previous relationship, when both worked at Leicester City.

Waghorn`s arrival could allow Jay Simpson to leave the KC, with The Mirror indicating Millwall hold an interest in the striker as the former Arsenal plan seeks a move back to London.

In what could be a busy week, Pearson is also tracking an Premier League defender as he seeks to shore up his defence.
