Great Result!

I remember someone predicting a Tigers victory and being criticised. Okay – I didn’t get the score right, but we did win!

The game was a tight affair and Plymouth had the better running of the first half. City’s only real threat came in the first five minutes when Plymouth seemed to have forgotten the match had kicked off.

Half time brought a turn-around in City’s play. The main contributor to this without any doubt was Craig Fagan.

Las week, Taylor left the player out of the squad which lost to Leicester in order to provoke a reaction. Today, he got it.

He covered every blade of grass, challenged for everything and rounded off his performance with a well taken goal.

Fagan certainly proved he shouldn’t be overlooked again, and if he plays versus Crewe next week we should expect more of the same.

Alan Rogers was another player who had a good game. Always composed at the back, he got forward to support attacks and his delivery from corner-kicks was terrific.

Jon Parkin had another splendid game and really does look a class act in the Championship. It is so nice to see a player of his quality in the black and amber of Hull City.

I read how Plymouth fans described their team as being miles ahead of City in terms of talent on the pitch. From what I saw, they were an average team, and one we matched. Not one of the better teams I have seen, but in all fairness not one of the worst – plain and simple – just average.

A tight game, but one City knew they had to win and they did. With other results going our way, City moved eight points clear of the drop-zone. A win versus Crewe and we could be all but safe!

Fingers crossed.
