Newspaper reports today suggest Hull City have made a new attempt to sign Bolton striker Kevin Davies, although VF understands these details are wide of the mark.
Hull initially showed an interest in the Bolton front-man over a fortnight ago, but after having their initial offer of around £2 million rebuffed by Gary Megson, Phil Brown has not made another move.
Instead, Phil Brown turned his attention to Marlon King, whom the Hull Daily Mail reckons could become a step closer to agreeing his transfer to the KC Stadium in the next 48 hours, and Mamadou Niang, although rumours of the French striker have disappeared as quickly as they emerged.
Despite Bolton`s signing of Swede Johan Elmander for a club record £11 million, Kevin Davies is a vital piece of the Bolton jigsaw and is unlikely to leave the Reebok Stadium after five years of successful service.
Kevin Davies, a close friend of Phil Brown after their time spent at Bolton Wanderers is also part of a syndicate for racehorse European Dream, as revealed in the Hull Daily Mail, but a move may be dependent on Bolton lowering their valuation of the forward.

A tough player, not sure why he wants to leave Bolton unless he wants a change, still some life in the old dog.
Kevin Davies is a thug and not the type of player you want at Hull believe me
i hope not he is crap at best
bids been rejected happy days
Not a terrible player but hardly scores any goals. Can play a certain role well though, as long as you want to play like Bolton.
a lot of confusion around this one it seems at present…………..
I think he would be a brilliant signing, very under-rated, excellent target man, holds the ball up well, good work rate, won’t happen though, why would he leave Bolton?
You lot know jack.
150 Appearances for a team who consistently finished top 8 bar last season’s ‘blip’.
Stick to Rugby.
And he only scored 35 goals in his 150 odd games for this ‘consistently top 8 team’ in the league. not a good rate really is it for a striker. he’s not what we need in my opinion.
He’s a battler, but he won’t get you a hatful of goals.
He will certainly add some bite to your play, he takes no prisoners.
