Chelsea loanee Michael Hector was delighted to get all 90 minutes under his belt in is first appearance for Hull City in our behind closed doors friendly at the weekend.

Having signed from the Premier League Champions on a season long loan deal on Thursday, less than 24 hours later he was included in Leonid Slutsky’s starting line up for Ajax and Hull of course battled to a three all draw on the day.

Speaking to the Official Site to reflect on his bow, Hector explained.

‘It was good to get 90 minutes under my belt before the start of the season. It was a good run-out for both myself and the team. It was a tough game against a very good Ajax side. They passed it well and made it hard for us. We were a little bit sloppy after opening the scoring, but we showed good character to come back and score two goals late on to claim a draw.’

He went on to add.

‘Pre-season is all about fitness, but you also don`t want to lose games. Nobody likes to get beat – whether it`s a friendly or a competitive game – and it was good to end pre-season on a positive note by scoring twice late on to come back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3.’

With Hull’s pre season preparations now done, we’re into the final week of training before we face Aston Villa this weekend and Hector was looking forward to settling into the group more.

‘I`m looking forward to having the chance to settle in and get a full week of training in with the lads ahead of going to Villa. We were back in training today after having the weekend off and everyone is ready and raring to go for that first game of the season.’
