Markus Henriksen has said he hopes his first Championship goal for Hull City is the start of things to come for him.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media ahead of the Norwich City game this weekend, Henriksen reflected on his first club strike in the six one victory over Birmingham City and especially now he’s been given the No 10 role, as opposed to the more defensive role he had been playing, he’s looking to kick on and show the fans what he can really do.

‘Of course it was nice to get my first league goal for the Club in our previous match. It was a long time ago that I last scored for the Club on my debut against Stoke in the Cup. It was about time I ended the run and hopefully, I can now add a few more to my tally going forward.’

Henriksen went on to say.

‘It was the first game this year – except during pre-season – that I played as an offensive midfielder and it felt good to show that I can play in the position and have an impact. I had a chat with the manager before the Birmingham game and explained to him that I didn`t feel as good playing as a more defensive midfielder. I feel as though I`m more of a box-to-box player. I feel more comfortable higher up the pitch and I was pleased to show what I can do in that role when coming off the bench against Birmingham.’

The player admitted that so far he hasn’t shown his full form, but this is where the 25 year old hopes the more advanced role will help him to his best.

‘I think a lot of people had high hopes for me when I first came here after so many good years in Holland – I had high hopes as well. There is no doubt that my performances haven`t been good enough, although I have been very unlucky with injuries during my time here so far. I was happy with my first three games of this season, but after that, I`ve not been happy at all. I do believe I have a lot more to show and I`m very eager to do that and help the team. All the hate – or whatever you want to call it – I have to turn that into something positive and really show myself and what I am capable of – and that is what I am determined to do.’
