Head coach Marco Silva has bemoaned a poor start by Hull City in the weekends heavy loss to Crystal Palace.

Heading to Selhurst Park for the clash, the hosts were ahead after three minutes and despite dominating possession Hull didn’t register an effort on target.

Come full time it was a comprehensive four nil victory for Palace and we failed to take the battle against relegation to the final day and are set for a Championship life again next year.

Speaking to the Official Site in his post game press conference, a disappointed Silva explained.

‘The first three minutes. Everything changes after that. There was time to react, but we didn`t. We gave our opponent a 1-0 lead and after that everything becomes difficult. It was a bad mistake, and after Crystal Palace could play the game as they wanted to.’

Silva went on to say that there was plenty wrong with the performance on the day and ultimately we can only blame ourselves.

‘We were too slow in possession. Then Crystal Palace win one corner and score again. When we have players like Michael Dawson, Harry Maguire, Andrea Ranocchia and Alfred N`Diaye on our side, conceding from a corner can only be down to a lack of focus and to do that in matches at this level makes things very difficult.’

There were a couple of positives though, but again with a bad performance other things went against us on the day.

‘We tried to change things at half time with another creative midfielder and Jarrod Bowen on the right. He did some good things and had a very good chance to score but it didn`t happen. Of course Dieumerci Mbokani would have come on as well, but we lost Harry to injury early in the second half and had to make a different change. After that, and then the penalty for Palace, it became impossible.’

Reflecting on relegation itself with it being confirmed with the defeat, he ended by saying.

‘It feels really bad. I came here with one idea on my mind and we worked hard every day to try and improve. Today is a bad day because our fans didn`t deserve this. I feel very sad for them because they have supported the team and they have supported me. We have one more game now and we have to play with pride and respect for the club.’
