Is Hull City the most popular team in England at the moment?

The Tigers relegation scrap has earned the club many new supporters. Unfortunately, it`s not because they don`t want to see Hull City go down, it`s because of many fans detest of Leeds United.

The two Yorkshire clubs are entwined in a relegation battle that has only one hundred and eighty minutes left to run its course. The Tigers currently sit one point above their West Yorkshire rivals thanks to a last minute equaliser from former Leeds United striker Nick Barmby. With both clubs having a home and away game left this season, the scrap for Championship survival looks like it will last until the final day of the season.

Saturday sees Hull City travel to Cardiff City, the team they demolished 4-1 earlier in the season whilst Leeds United host Ipswich Town at Elland Road. If the Tigers are able to win their game, and Leeds United lose, the relegation scrap will be over and Leeds will be consigned to League 1, something that will please the majority of football supporters in this country.

The City websites have been filled with good luck messages for this Saturday`s game with some even coming from City`s next two opponents Cardiff City and Plymouth Argyle, with fans suggesting they would be willing to watch their side lost if it was to relegate Leeds United.

Leeds have never been below the second tier of English football before in their history but having lost to surprise package Watford in last season`s play-off final, the Yorkshire club has struggled. Despite beating the Tigers in late January, the result sent Leeds United bottom and the Yorkshire club has been unable to escape the drop zone ever since.
