The Championship’s ‘Team of the week’ features two Hull City players after the teams fantastic display against high-flying Birmingham city.

The Tigers ran out comfortable two-nil winners at the KC Stadium on Saturday thanks to a brace from City striker Dean Windass. The on-loan forward netted his first goals since returning to the Tigers on loan until the end of the season.

Saturday’s win moved the Tigers out of the drop zone thanks to a superior goal difference over Queens Park Rangers. Following the victory, Ray Parlour and Dean Windass were selected in this week’s team of the week.

The City striker’s goals were credited as the reason behind the clubs win whilst Parlour’s first home appearance left the KC crowd in awe of the players ability.

City’s first goal arrived after ten minutes when Parlour’s cross was lifted over the advancing keeper by Windass. Deano’s second goal came from the penalty spot after Nicky Forster was tripped inside the area. Windass stepped up to fire the penalty into the bottom corner of the net despite the goalkeeper guessing the right way.

Although the Football League have chosen to signal out two of city’s team, it should be noted that Saturday`s performance was a true team effort. Every player wearing the black and amber of Hull city made up for Tuesday night’s dismal performance with a heroic display.

If the club could find their consistency, there will be no threat of relegation. Unfortunately for the KC fans, we all expect a nervy twelve games before finding out our fate at the end of the season.

I am suprised Nicky Forster did not make the team.

good news all the same…would be great if they can play like this more often and achieve greater recognition across the squad….

If we can continue that type of form at home and pick up the odd point, or win away, then we’ll be safe.

Team of the week usually goes on goals for Strikers, Assists for Midfielders and clean sheets for defenders, everything else is looked at afterwards. Forester should be there instead of windass… surely if he got man of the match that means that he played better then windass????
