Hull city are currently in negotiations to offer new deals to two of Hull City’s first-team players.

Club captain Ian Ashbee, who is also the Tigers longest serving player has been offered a new one year deal whilst Phil Brown also hopes to extend the deal of goalkeeper Boaz Myhill.

Ian Ashbee’s current deal runs out in the summer of 2008 but Phil Brown, who has been impressed with the midfielder this season, has offered a new one year deal, extending his stay at the club until June 2009.

Ian Ashbee’s ability on the ball has often been questioned but his leadership has not. However, is leadership enough when competing for promotion from the Championship?

Of course, the Tigers firstly need to stay in the Championship this season, but next season the fans will be wanting to see an improvement in fortunes after what will ultimately be a disappointing 2006/07 season. Does Ian Ashbee instil this confidence in progression?

The signing of Ray Parlour has done much to suggest the club is attempting to move forward but does this new deal for Ian Ashbee signal the opposite?

Hull City goalkeeper Boaz Myhill is the second player who’s contract is getting extended. The City shot-stopper is often linked with a move but Phil brown is desperate to secure the long-term services of his number one goalkeeper.

In the past, Myhill has been linked with the likes of Charlton and Wigan Athletic, but Phil Brown is determined to extend his stay in East Yorkshire.

Negotiations between the club and the goalkeeper haven’t started but Brown is confident the player will agree to a new deal, but a potential stumbling block may be the final league position of the club this season. If the club is relegated, will one of city’s brightest stars want to remain?

Rumours have suggested the new deal will extend his stay at the club for a further three years but Brown declined to comment on the exact duration of the deal until the player has signed the deal.

What do you think of these new deals? Please tell us…

Think Boaz has had a poor season by his standards but still is one of the best keeper in the league n deserves to get a contract and even a three years one.Not to sure about Ashbee he is a great leader but think we should see where we are in the summer before we offer him one.

seems like they have learnt from the fagen scenario….certainly try and get boaz to sign..saying that he has a lot to learn still as well….

What do other people really make of this? Myhill is a step in the right direction but Ash is moving backwards. He can’t stay in the team with Welsh, MArney and hopefully Parlour sticking around.
