Fans of Hull City have reacted positively to the announcement that Phil Brown is interested in signing David Prutton according to our latest poll.

We asked you if the signing of Prutton would be a good one for the club, and eighty-one percent of you voted stating he would add some quality.

City fans have long called out for a creative midfield player and although Prutton doesn`t fit the bill exactly, he would still be a terrific signing for the club. Unfortunately, newspaper reports today suggest the midfielder has been the subject of a bid from Premiership strugglers Watford, meaning Hull may not sign their desired target.

We revealed yesterday that Phil Brown’s opening offer, believed to be around the £150,000 mark was rejected as Southampton hold out for a larger bid for their midfielder who is out of contract in the summer. With the possibility that the midfielder might leave in the summer for nothing, Saints manager George Burley is looking to recoup as much of the £2.5 million spent on him when he arrived at the club.

Fifteen percent of voters said that he was no better than what we currently have, but the Southampton midfielder has struggled with injuries since his move south. Despite having Premiership experience, the midfielder has struggled to feature in the Southampton team, making only four appearances so far this season, scoring once. With Dean Marney often unpredictable and Livermore and Ashbee both holding midfielders, Prutton might be able to add a touch of class to the City midfield.

Only four percent of voters remained undecided on the issue, with the majority of voters seeing his experience as a possible asset to the club. However, the players home town links don’t seem to be strong enough at the present time, and the midfielder may choose to move elsewhere before eventually ending his career with Hull City.
