Hull Open Maguire Bidding?

It’s being reported that Hull City have tabled the first bid for Sheffield United’s Harry Maguire.

It’s being suggested that we have today tabled an offer of £1.5million for the 21 year old defender but it’s expected that United will dismiss that offer out of hand as they both look to keep the player, or in the alternative maximise any possible return on him, as it’s suggested Wolves have already had an offer in the same ball park turned down.

Maguire has been strongly linked to Hull recently, so if this move proves to be true, it’s not an unexpected development, especially as he has reportedly stalled his contract talks with them to see what offers he can get elsewhere and for the future.

With him having an existing 12 months left on his current deal, United manager Nigel Clough has already told the press.

‘As far as we’re concerned, nothing has changed. If we get a bid that means we can strengthen, of course, we would have to seriously consider it, but that’s not happened and we also want Harry to stay.’

With his contract talks stalled, Clough also confirms that unless an acceptable bid does come in, he will start next season with them and the offer will remain on the table for him to consider again in the future should he wish to.

It’s also being reported that Hull have sent scouts to watch Ghana’s Jordan Ayew in their game against the USA later tonight.

It’s also suggested that West Bromwich Albion are looking at him, but the only concrete proof of this seems to be that his agent Willie McKay has confirmed that the player has an interest in moving to England this summer, and that interest has been gathering in his client.
