Injured Duo To Return At Derby

Hull City striker Stephen McPhee and midfielder John Welsh will both return to the Tigers squad that travels to Championship leaders Derby County on Saturday.

Stephen McPhee has been absent from the squad since limping off at Crystal Palace during the first-half with a hamstring injury. John Welsh has been absent for the last eight weeks, but even when fit, he wasn’t a regular under former manager Phil Parkinson.

Luckily for the Tigers fans that have long awaited watching John Welsh have a sustained run in the Tigers team, Phil Brown does rate the midfielder, and he will be involved in Saturday’s game after Ian Ashbee and Ryan France were ruled out through suspension and injury respectively.

Stephen McPhee was a major factor in the resurgence of the Tigers as his front three partnership alongside Nick Barmby and Craig Fagan worked perfectly. However, with Craig Fagan now a Derby County player and Nick Barmby injured, the Tigers have lacked pace up-front.

With Nicky Forster having impressed during recent weeks, McPhee will take the place of either loan signing Dean Windass or Jon Parkin. If City fans were to be granted their wishes, neither of the ‘big men’ would be starting on Saturday.

With Ryan France having been sidelined for the remainder of the season, it’s good to finally have some positive news surrounding the club’s injuries.

Get well soon Ryan!

Finally good news, Mcphee maybe able to provide the speed up front as long as he stays away form injury again…

hopefully Brown will take the opportunity to give these two a run in the team and assess their impact…it seems after the last couple of matches that a change is required……would be good to see them both take their chances as well…..

Welshy can play Marney’s rolle but who else to sit in midfield? THATS the puzzler.
